Clients also receive a separate privacy notice under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act describing how nonpublic personal information is collected and shared.

Information collected

Depending on how you interact with the firm, this may include:

  • Information you give directly: name, email address, telephone number, mobile number and text messaging consent, and anything you choose to write in a message or booking form.
  • Information needed to provide advice: financial circumstances, account balances, income, tax information, employment details, family circumstances and goals.
  • Information needed to open and maintain accounts: date of birth, government identification numbers and similar details required by the custodian and by law.
  • Limited technical information from this website, such as pages visited, referring links, approximate location, and general device and browser type. This is collected through Google Analytics and is used in aggregate to understand how the site is used.

How information is used

Personal information is used to provide financial planning and investment advisory services, to open and administer accounts, to communicate with you, and to meet legal, regulatory and recordkeeping obligations.

How information is shared

Averton Wealth does not sell personal information, and does not share it for anyone else's marketing purposes.

Information is shared only as necessary, and only with:

  • The account custodian, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., to open and service your accounts.
  • Service providers who support the practice (for example planning software, scheduling, email), under obligations of confidentiality.
  • Other professionals you have asked us to work with, such as your CPA or attorney, with your permission.
  • Regulators, auditors or others where required or permitted by law.

Text messaging

If you provide your mobile number and consent, Averton Wealth may send you text messages about your accounts, scheduling, and service matters. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for assistance.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Information sharing to subcontractors in support services, such as customer service, is permitted. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

Text messages are archived as required by recordkeeping regulations applicable to investment advisers.

Protecting information

Averton Wealth maintains physical, electronic and procedural safeguards intended to protect personal information, and restricts access to those who need it to serve you. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. Please do not send account numbers, government identification numbers or other sensitive information through the website contact form. Ask for a secure method instead.

Retention

Records are retained for as long as you are a client and afterwards for the periods required by applicable regulation and law.
